Astronaut Wives Wardrobe

Is anyone watching ABC's new (mini)series The Astronaut Wives Club? Based on the best-selling book by Lily Koppel, the true story follows the wives of seven pioneering astronauts in the American Space Age.

I've always been excited about movies and TV shows set in another era, and I'm sure it's has some inspiration in my career of selling vintage clothes. Needless to say, it's thrilling to see one of my pieces worn on the show by Yvonne Strahovski, who plays Rene Carpenter on the series. Her character is known for challenging the expectations of the ideal housewife of the era. Fittingly, a bright and bold orange dress is a perfect garment for her character.

I don't have much backstory on the dress: I found it in Columbia, South Carolina, and its only label reads Lisbeth Wolfe. Wolfe opened her first store on Main Street in Columbia in 1936. She carried stylish, high-end clothing and eventually grew to open a second location, but both shops were closed by the mid-1970s.

If you want to see the dress in action, watch the episode here. (It's on within the first few minutes of the episode!)

Does anyone have any other information about Lisbeth Wolfe? And if you're watching the show, let me know what you think about the series!
